Ron Waara is our talented chef and the owner of the Harbor Haus. Ron received his A.O.S. degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. He has been working and schooling in the Kitchen since 1977 and has managed the Michigan House in Calumet, was the chef at the Old Country Haus in Kearsarge, studied at Europaischer Hof in Baden-Baden Germany, and for a time simultaneously managed the kitchens for two of the areas most famous dining spots, the Old Country Haus and the Harbor Haus. In his own style, Ron has put together a great kitchen and waitsperson staff that will make your visits to Copper Harbor and the Harbor Haus a real pleasure.

By air:

Routed through Detroit, MI or Minneapolis, MN, then on to Hancock, Michigan Houghton County Memorial Airport CMX via Northwest Airlink (Mesaba Airlines)
(Have your own aircraft... the airport has Jet-A and 100LL)

You'll have approximately a 40 mile drive so plan your arrival accordingly.

By land:

Plan your route through Hancock, MI... the gateway to the Keweenaw National Historical Park and follow US 41 to Copper Harbor.

Take your time and enjoy the trip while being careful for the wildlife that may attempt to cross your path.
